01. Problem

A well-known global beverage company was heading towards a digital transformation project designing a new data exchange and integration strategy between regional on-premise and cloud systems. They selected MuleSoft with Anypoint Platform and CloudHub as the integration platform and were looking for an experienced consulting platform that could them in planning and integration design.

02. Solution

Our MuleSoft consultant along with MuleSoft account managers and a partner company were supporting the client in following the best integration practices and tailoring MuleSoft offer to their needs.

The project started with an on-site workshop to identify the key systems, their stakeholders, technical maturity and integration readiness. The major objective was to build a data exchange matrix starting with a top level conceptual data flow graph that was then extended with system-specific data entities definitions. This enabled us to build a canonical data model for the exchange layer with detailed entity-attribute mapping maps and required transformations.

The technical analysis was also focused on determining the current and projected data volumes as well as available security controls. The final MuleSoft solution scaling exercise was conducted with MuleSoft architects and account managers.

03. Results

A highly scalable integration architecture was designed with the client to support them in refreshing their existing system portfolio re-using the existing data exchange capabilities. This enabled us to propose a modern and a high performance design without a need to amend the individual systems which most cases were in the maintenance stage.

The selected hybrid architecture, connecting their existing older systems with modern cloud applications, enabled the client to build a multipoint data exchange solution based on the already available protocols like REST web services, SOAP message exchange protocol, file transfer over FTP and IBM Websphere message queues without a need to re-implement the existing endpoints.

A comprehensive offering from MuleSoft allowed us to finalize with a tailored proposal based on Mule Runtime and CloudHub that was scaled appropriately to client volumes and available hardware options.
