Insurers on decades-old cores, and custom builds that take years
Most insurance companies still run critical pricing and underwriting on legacy systems, and insurance executives consistently name the inflexibility of those platforms as their biggest barrier to change. The alternative, a custom build from an empty repository, spends its first months rediscovering what a policy is, how endorsements attach and how versioning works when a regulator asks what the cover was on a given date.
The industry needed a platform that fast-tracks that work while adapting to each insurer's regulatory requirements, data model and legacy landscape, without a one-size-fits-all compromise. That is what Openkoda set out to build, and what Stratoflow set out to implement.
Quote to claim on one platform, configured for each insurer
Openkoda covers the policy lifecycle from quote to claim: rating, underwriting, policy administration, claims, billing, workflow automation and bordereaux reporting for delegated authority, with product changes configured with AI assistance. Products, rates and rules are configured on the platform, and what the platform does not cover is added as integrations and custom modules.
Stratoflow's implementation for Core Travel Insurance configured travel products, rates and rules on the policy template, integrated payment and document systems, and deployed the result in eight weeks. SkyGuard's life and aviation products followed on the same platform with the specialty-line rules its underwriters needed.
