GIS-integrated project management for large construction projects
Managing large construction projects is technically hard and legally complex: affected parties to identify, legal statuses to track, costs to estimate and survey. We built a project management system from scratch in Java, PostgreSQL, Angular and GeoServer, with GIS as part of the data model, for a real estate management company. It now runs multiple organizations' projects as a multi-tenant platform.

Legal complexity on top of technical complexity
When planning complex construction, the client had to navigate legal issues, identify every party affected by a project and manage a range of legal statuses, alongside the ordinary difficulty of estimating and tracking cost across large schemes. Spreadsheets and disconnected tools could not keep the legal, spatial and financial views of a project in agreement.
A system built around the map
We designed and developed the project management system from scratch in Java, PostgreSQL, Angular and a progressive web app, with GeoServer components integrating GIS. The map gives a visual overview of the infrastructure and identifies the stakeholders to negotiate with; the system manages the whole process from cost estimation through field survey to project costing, and integrates with external data sources to handle the complexity of each project.
